And I Wanted to Live in Wyoming, Why?
Second big winter storm in the space of a week. I am so tired of snow that I could scream. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to go out in it to get to work. Actually, I don't worry so much about me going out in it as much as I worry about Jae having to drive in this mess. The good news is that this storm isn't supposed to be as bad as the last one, just longer. Hopefully by the end of the weekend it'll be gone. Course, then we still have to dig out again. Oh well, at least I have a really good snow shovel now and I live in town so I don't have to deal with highways that are closed. The bad news is we probably won't close the store tomorrow since it's officially month end close. Bah humbug! Just hope this isn't a preview of the rest of winter here in wonderful, flat, windy Cheyenne, Wyoming. On a positive note, both Jae and I have automatic deposit so we'll get our paychecks tomorrow no matter what happens. Did discover none of the cats like snow. Let the kittens try it out earlier and the most adventuresome either got was Mary put one (count it one) foot into the snow and then gave me the most disgusted look before running into the house. Oh well, we'll see what the morning brings. I've already planned to get up early so I can shovel and sweep snow. Wish us the best since I've decided I really hate the color white.

Snow and more Snow!
Okay so we had a "blizzard" here yesterday and this morning. As usual the "cowboys" around here decided that a little snow shouldn't be a good reason not to work. The good news is that the saner heads at my work (the women) decided that my department at least was outta there at 10:30 a.m. yesterday and not going in at all today. If the macho guys want to try to open the retail operation today, that's their problem not ours. It certainly helps that my group is finance and reports to the regional CFO/VP of Finance who just happens to be (you guessed it) a woman and she felt that our lives and limbs were more important than a days worth of work. Course it doesn't hurt that about half of Colorado is shut down and our region is made up of Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Southern Idaho and Western Nebraska. Yep, at least half of our region was in the blizzard zone. Now I have the whole day to just veg out and do whatever especially since Jae had to go in to work. His work did call and tell him they were having a late start (9:00 a.m.) and right after that, he got a call from one of his coworkers, Chad, who had an all wheel drive vehicle and was volunteering to pick up as many of the rest of them as needed him to. Nice guy Chad, we really should do something really nice for him. At least now I don't have to worry about Jae trying to drive on our roads with TK. TK loves dry weather but the least bit of moisture in any form and he freaks out. Stupid fair weather car. Anyway, I think I'll finish cleaning the kitchen and start a crock pot full of either Beef Stew or Pot Roast. Haven't decided which yet. Did I mention that the winds did make some interesting snow sculptures? Yep, quite interesting and no I haven't decided I should move back to Southern California but it was a close thing I gotta tell you. Not really but I did change my screen saver to pix of LA and the California beaches.
Xmas vacation and blizzard related news
I just love snow - not. Everybody has a blizzard story so here's mine. We can usually get out of the driveway regardless what's happening except this time. Apparently the City of Cheyenne in a fit of whatever actually did the unthinkable and plowed our street. Of course, this resulted in a ridge of snow at the end of the drive about 2 feet tall. Net result was we couldn't get TK out of the drive yesterday. Not to worry as both Jae and I did get to work because the store manager at my work, Shane, came over in his four wheel drive truck and took us both to work. We also both got rides home with coworkers with 4wheel drive vehicles. To correct the problem of the snow at the end of the drive, I called the lumber/hardware store at the end of the street where I work and bought a snow shovel that they actually personally delivered to me at work! How cool is that? Never happen in a place like LA. Anyway, after we got home, Jae and I shoveled out the drive clear into the street and tested to make sure TK would get out. Fortunately, he gets out just fine since Jae had to work today. My project today has been to finish the main drive and later I'll actually work on the sidewalk in the front since the neighbors on either side have cleared their stretches.
In other news, every year my company's Safety department gives out gifts to all employees with a clean safety record for the year. It's pretty to have a reportable accident when you work in AP so we always get the gifts. The way it works is that in November they send out an email with a choice of 5 or 6 gifts and you get to choose which one you want and then it gets delivered just before Xmas. Seems there's always one gift that's the hands favorite every year. Last year we all picked the Foreman Grill and this year it was a RCA 1G MP3 player with expansion slot. Teh awesome! I've already got mine all loaded up with room to spare! Course, I already had the expansion card so instead of 1G I have 2G. It's nice to be appreciated even if only for not screwing up.
Finally, since Google/Gmail has such wonderful ties to Blogspot and all that other fun stuff to work with, I'm going to start cross posting my LJ with my blogspot account. I might eventually switch completely to blogspot but if I do, I'll post the link here. Gotta go do something marginally productive now.
